OFLAC performance commission and interviews.

COMMISSION

In Spring 2025, OFLAC collaborated with choreographer Lena Dee to create a dance piece celebrating the pure love of dance and music.

Sessions began with Lena discussing favourite artists and songs with the group, exploring movements that matched the music. The choreography blended unison sections with space for dancers’ own interpretations and freestyle moments, highlighting individual styles.

The dance was performed at Princes Hall, Aldershot, during the RUSH Gala on Sunday 18th May 2025 — significant for many dancers as their local theatre.

During rehearsals, several dancers were interviewed about their passion for dance, performing, and advice for newcomers. A short video showcasing these insights was shared with the Gala audience, revealing the personalities behind the dance and OFLAC’s commitment to creating learning and performance opportunities.

“Absolute joy on every face.”

“What was most enjoyable about working with the dancers on this project, was the absolute joy you could see on every face when dancing to their favourite music... Some dancers, who have a tendency to be quieter or shy in performance, really came alive... Many were not used to working with partners but they all embraced it and contributed lots of ideas... to produce a dance that I hope they will remember with great fondness.”
