Shademakers lead moving spectacle.
WORKSHOPS
Shademakers is a UK-based, artist-led company renowned for their large-scale kinetic sculptures and "dancing" costumes seen in parades and city-scale spectacles.
For Victoria Day in Aldershot (June 2025), they collaborated with Stopgap Troop and Farnham Youth Company to explore the event's themes through workshops, developing ways to interact with and bring their costumes and characters to life.

"We joined Troop and Farnham Youth Company for the Shademakers workshop, a rare chance for them to meet as they usually rehearse on the same day.
We began with a touch tour of costumes, which our dancers enjoyed exploring and trying on... Then games and movement exploration to embody characters and animals... Finally, we chose costumes and had a mini parade around the studio... It was great to see our dancers fully engaged and enjoying the experience.
